Windows XP

Defragging your computer means that you are taking files that might be scattered across your hard drive. When you save a file, the computer saves the file in the next available spot on the hard drive. You can think of these spots as parking spaces in a parking lot. After a while, parking spots are not available in a line any more and you have to start parking cars in different spots.

That in the computer realm would mean that a file is fragmented. What defragging means to do is, take the files and line them up again so that the computer does not have to work as hard to find the files and they are in a nice line in the hard drive.

To defrag your computer you must be, logged on to your computer as the administrator. To open the defragging program supplied with Windows XP you will need to left click start, open all programs, hover over accessories, and then again over systems tools. Then left click on disk defragmenter. Near the bottom, you will see two options that have not been, grayed out.

Analyze and Defragment. Analyze will check to see if the disk is fragmented badly and tell you if it thinks you need to defrag and Defragment starts the defragmenting process. If you do need to defrag just click the Defragment button.

Before you begin the process be sure that you have set a side an hour or so, and that the computer will not be in use during the defragmenting process. In most cases, it is best to let the computer Defragment overnight. Once you have set aside the time for the computer to be defragmented then you will want to left click the Defragment button and let it begin.

Do not install anything during this time or mess with any files as it might hurt them or your computer. If you happen to move, a file while it is defragmenting that file it will most likely make the file unattainable and you might lose the file forever.

Using these tips, you can defrag your computer yourself and probably save yourself fifty bucks instead of having a computer tech or shop doing it for you. If your computer were slowing down this would be one the first things to try. This can help your computer speed up opening of programs and applications that seem to be taking longer than they should. This is one way; you can help your computer, to run properly.

Computer Protection

Do not go online without it!

The Internet is a wonderful tool which allows you do things such as shopping, browsing and search for just about anything you may be looking for. However, in the same way that we use it as a tool to get many things done, so do identity theft thieves, hackers, and spammers. The difference is that these miscreants whose sole purpose is to steal and highjack your computer from you will stop at nothing until they do. The reason for this is simple; they in turn get all your personal credit card and banking information, passwords and even the sites you visit. Many hackers will even use your PC as a gateway to other crimes by hiding themselves within your system and sending out spam, committing credit card fraud and much more.

If you regularly use the Internet to shop or simply just to browse you need to be sure your computer is protected against the many dangers out there in cyberspace. There are hundreds of sites who look legitimate but are actually full of spy-ware and viruses and end up leading you to programs that contain malware. If you use software such as P2P like Ares or Limewire then you are in for a big surprise. About 70% of these programs you download actually contain Trojan horse viruses. A Trojan horse virus is one that comes within a legitimate program and will install itself along with the program. Most of the time you will not even be aware of it until it is too late. If you do not have a Firewall running on your PC or Laptop, then chances are each time you browse the Internet hackers, thieves and spammers are sending 'pings' to your computer in order to know if you have security and then infiltrate it. It is almost impossible to know when this is happening without a program to detect, warn and stop it from happening. There are other countless of programs that you may download which seem innocent enough. Yet most of these programs contain Spy-ware. The sole purpose for this software is to log and record all the information on all of the pages you visit all day. This means that whatever site you visit, they will know and sell that information to others. This is the reason so many of us get so much spam each day. Most of that spam comes via the spy-ware found on many computers. It is sort of a backdoor way for them to know what to advertise to you but obtaining that information while invading your privacy. If you have a PC or laptop you need to protect it as it is the gateway to all your personal information.

Luckily for us there are many programs out there which are good while there are others which are great! A great Internet security program will not only protect your computer from anti-virus and anti-spyware but will also offer you Firewall, email, identity protection and IM security along with parental controls as well. One program I have been using for quite a while offers all of these features plus many more. I highly recommend it for its simple to use interface as well the extra sense of security it provides. If you are surfing, shopping or simply browsing online without your computer protected, then I implore you to look into safeguarding the key to the door of your PC. Not having a Great Internet security program installed on your computer is like sleeping with your front door wide open. We all know no one would ever do that right? Protect yourself by protecting your computer today!

Picking a Computer

When you're looking to buy a computer, there are several things you need to consider. Most people are unaware of the things they need on their computer because all they really want are the basic essentials. While this can be okay, you still might want to know what you're getting so you can get a bang for your buck.

Gaming Rig

Gaming computers tend to be on the pricier side. The main reason for this is because games these days tend to be resource heavy in terms of hardware quality. The point of a gaming rig is to be able to play and computer software games out there without any problems. Usually, these systems would require fast multi-processors (at least 1 GHz for each processor), lots of RAM (4 Gb of ram would do), and an extremely good graphics card. These systems can easily reach one thousand dollars or more depending on the specifications you want. I would say that these systems would have to be the most expensive types of computers you can get.

Standard use

If you're planning to just do some light gaming, surf the internet, or watch DVDs on your computer, then you wouldn't need to find a computer that's resource heavy. Depending on what you're doing, a processor with 2 Ghz and 2 Gb of RAM would suffice. Although, technology now days tend to change rapidly. This type of specification would be considered "below average". Another thing you need to consider is your budget versus the features of the computer. If you're just using it for standard use, it's pointless to get a very high quality computer if you're just going to use its minimal potential.

Portable eBooks

If you're strictly looking into finding a computer which you can type your office work or homework, then you might want to try and find the mini eBooks. There are laptops out there with "mini processors" which has the minimal hardware quality. It is among the cheapest of all computer systems and it gets the job done. Obviously, you wouldn't be able to play high quality games or do a lot of things on it, but if you're strictly into work related things, these are the type of systems you should be looking for. These tend to sell for around three hundred dollars depending on the added features you want on it.

AV.exe Virus - Get an AV.exe

Is AV.exe causing you problems? Join the club! The list of victims out there who badly need to remove AV.exe from their computers just keeps getting longer and longer. You really should delete AV.exe as soon as possible, the longer you wait, the more damage it can and will do.

If the infection is in its early stages, you might be able to uninstall AV.exe, but it you've been infected for some time then to eliminate it completely you will need stronger measures. The longer you use an infected PC, the bigger the chance that the virus will embed itself in the system registry and create all kinds of bogus pop up warnings. Once it is in the registry, it becomes very hard to do away with the malware. Worse, from the registry it can steal sensitive information and send it out.

Since AV.exe removal is so hard, you should know how the virus gets on your PC:

• It infects your PC through Adobe software. Adobe is a frequent victim of virus attacks due to security vulnerabilities, always use real time virus protection on when you are online.
• You can catch it on social networks like Facebook and Twitter, you should really only add people you know as your friends.
• Downloading some shareware or freeware programs. A lot of malicious software is actually distributed in the guise of useful freeware; don't download anything unless an experienced and trusted user has recommended it.

Don't be deceived by the pop ups that tell you things like "Your data is unprotected!". This is just a trick to lure you into shelling out good money for even more harmful software.

You could try to get rid of AV.exe manually, some more daring users attempt this, it is done by deleting all AV.exe related processes (all malicious EXE files), Erasing any associated DLL files (Dynamic Link Library), Removing any.lnk files associated with the virus, and entering the registry via the regedit command and finding and removing dangerous files in following directories HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE HKEY_CURRENT_USER.

The procedure is not easy, and if done incorrectly, you could end up just wasting time, as the virus will simply spread again on reboot, or worse, you could do more harm than good, and your PC may not reboot at all.

The fast and easy way to remove AV.exe is with the use of a virus removal tool. A removal tool can scan your whole system and take out any infection in minutes; it will also protect you against future attacks.

Tired of viruses infecting your computer? Want to surf the web with the peace of mind that your computer is safe and secure? Get your free scan from the top virus protection and remove AV.exe.
